André Werner | video art

Selected video art works and video installations by André Werner. Multi-channel installations and interactive works, some of them closed circuit based, that is using the real time feedback between a camera and a monitor displaying the camera signal.

André Werner entered the world of new media art literally through the television tube.  In the beginning he manipulated TV sets to create specific polaroids from the image on the tube. The tweaking of the signal, the contrast etc replaced the painterly process of creating an image. It was only a question of time until videorecorders were added to the machinery, offering new ways to reproduce and manipulate the images.  The resulting video tapes of these experiments soon started their own life as independent video art works.
