Das winkende Mädchen | The waving girl
A group of works of art that deals with the iconic imagery of waving beings. The gentle act of waving to someone is arguable one of the oldest ways of long distance communication. An unspoken Hello that is understood regardless of any language.
As a way to reflect the instant connection between the waving person and the subject of this act, some of these installments are interactive. The image is lit from behind if a motion sensor is triggered by a spectator. The image remains visible for about five seconds before hiding again behind a blank white screen.
By waving to the screen one can bring back the image to life.
Das winkende Mädchen | The waving girl is work in progress, a collaboration with my accomplice, performance artist Nina Hartmann. DOP Ute Boeters (the one with the cat).
The project will eventually sprout into different kinds of installation, film or photography.
